Bretzheim is an engineering story and a family project.

To be honest, we don’t really know when this project really started…

Was it when we built our CNC milling machine, around 2012-2013? There wasn’t really much point in having such a machine, other than to have a technical challenge, almost like a simple hobby.

Was it from our first wooden creations, the ones we simply gave to our loved ones on birthdays or holidays?

Or was it more likely, following the first Covid-19 confinement, when we opened our online shop on Etsy in 2020?

Or just a few years later, when we opened our first ephemeral designer boutique in Strasbourg for Christmas 2023?

One thing’s for sure: we’ve got lots of plans and can’t wait to share the rest of our adventure with you!

Our new name Bretzheim is brand new!

For the nostalgic, we used to be “yc design creations”. Not very good at all.

Although, as hardrock fans, we love the diminutive YC⚡DC. But we’re a long way from pretzels and other Alsatian decorations… It’s not easy to communicate with a name like that. So it will remain an in-house joke, nothing more.

The name Bretzheim refers first and foremost to the famous pretzel, a typical symbol of our border region, and a very popular one at that!

Bretzheim also evokes the name of a typical Alsatian village. ‘Heim’ in German, the equivalent of ‘Home’ in English, means home, the place where you feel good. That’s perfect, because we primarily offer objects to decorate your home. What’s more, wood offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere thanks to its natural colour and distinctive grain.

And if you’re curious, you’ll have noticed that Bretzheim bears a strong resemblance to the name of Entzheim, just outside Strasbourg, where our workshop is located!

Bretzheim’s ambition is to offer you a wide selection of decorative creations, combining tradition and modernity.

Our products are 100% handmade in Alsace, the region between France and Germany, where we take care of the entire production process, from the design stage right through to the final finishing touches.

Alsace is a region with a strong character and a wealth of things to discover, from its gastronomy and architecture to its landscapes and cultural events. It’s an ideal breeding ground for innovation and new creative ideas.

Bretzheim doesn’t limit itself to classic Alsatian symbols, but also offers unique, customisable creations for Christmas, birthdays and Mother’s Day.

Last but not least, our business model means that we can create creations on demand, for corporate events or weddings for example, with the same high standards of quality.

Some of our creations may seem rustic, but in reality, each of them will fit just as well in the living room of a traditional house as in a new modern flat.

That’s the magic of wood. For a successful interior design, wood naturally brings a warm and welcoming aesthetic.

Most of our creations can be displayed on a flat surface or hung on a wall. The possibilities are endless.
